The Peddars Way.The Peddars way is an ancient Roman road which runs from just north of the Norfolk Suffolk Border, and ends at the North Norfolk coast line a route of about 60Miles. A good starting point is at the Southern point at Knettishal Heath, This can be found on any good map. There is a small car park I believe toll free. From here you can ride as little or as much as you like. But remember you will probably ride back along the same route. The terrain varies from near road quality to rough and muddy so be prepared. If planning on an out and back route you might try a detour to Wretham Village where you will find the Dog and Partridge Pub, good beer and food. Or further North detour to Thompson Village, which has a couple of good pubs. And still Further North near Watton where the Peddars way crosses the B1108, head for Little Cressingham Village, The White Horse Pub serves the hottest curry this side of Birmingham. If you are planning to ride the whole of the Peddars way, I suggest you start at Hunstanton on the North Norfolk Coast, and head south. The reason for this is that the Northern end of the Peddars Way, the first 20-25 miles are the toughest, they are almost entirely off road, with a fair amount of climbing. The next 30 miles are fairly easy, so it makes sense to get the worst of it over first. Also at the Northern end there is very little (nothing) in the way of civilisation, so finding suitable places for water and food can be difficult. As you head south things improve, with plenty of small villages, corner shops and Pubs .
